- Hadath (Major and Minor Impurities/ الحَدَثُ الأَصْغَرُ والأَكْبَرُ)
- Taharah (طَهَارَة) means purity. There are two kinds of Taharah. One is the purity from the state of ritual impurity/Hadath (الحَدَث); that is the first Shart of Salaat. Another one is purity from specific physical impurities called Najas (النَّجَاسَة); that is the second Shart of Salaat.
- Let us have a look at the ritual impurity. There are two kinds of ritual impurities. In Fiqh concept, the status of being not in Wudu is called ‘minor ritual impurity (الحَدَث الأَصْغَر) while the status of being in necessitating a bath (Janaba/جَنَابَة) is called major ritual impurity (الحَدَثُ الأَكْبَر). There are certain worships that are banned during major and minor impurity states. One can lift the ban by performing the specific actions for purity. A ritual Bathing (الغُسْل) is the purity from major impurity. Performing Wudu (وضوء) is the purity from minor impurity. For example, reading Quran is banned during Janaba, but one can start reading Quran once he baths with the intention of lifting Janaba. Touching Quran is banned during non-Wudu status, but one can touch Quran once he performs Wudu.
- Purity (Taharah) from Minor impurity (الحَدَثُ الأَصْغَر)
- We already have said that Taharah (purity) from minor impurity requires Wudu. So, we start studying the various rulings of Wudu.
