Things that make the bathing Obligatory
Things that necessitate the compulsory bath are six. They are discussed below.

  1. Discharge of Semen (مَنِيّ)
    The semen could be identified by one of the three features. 1. The emission of Semen is accompanied by the pleasure (لَذّة) 2. It gushes out in spurts (تَدَفُّق) 3. It smells like dough (عَجِين) when it is wet and it smells like the white of the egg (بَياضَ بيضٍ) when it is dry.
  2. Penetration of glans of penis (حَشْفَة) into the vagina
    In this case, the Gusl becomes obligatory even no ejaculation took place or even the gland is enclosed.
    Above two things make a person in ‘Janaba’ (جَنَابَة) status.
  3. Birth (الولادة)
    Even if the delivery was a simple clot (عَلَقَة) of flesh or blood, the bathing is necessary.
    During above three statuses, it is prohibited to do things that are prohibited during non-Wudu status. In addition to them, it is forbidden to stay in the mosque and to read Quran. But reciting Dhikr or Salaat is allowed.
  4. Menses
    Menses (الحَيْض) is the blood which originates from the womb of the woman and exits in the specific times. The minimum age of Haid is approximately 9 years old in lunar calendar.
    The minimum menstrual period of Haid is a day and a night. Generally, it lasts for six or seven days and the maximum period is 15 days and nights. The minimum interval of the purity between two Haid is 15 days. There is no maximum limit for the number of days between two periods.
