Understand Salaat timings
Know times when Salaat is forbidden
Five times prayer have their own times. Each Salaat should be offered in the specific time. No Salaat could be offered before the due time. If anyone missed a prayer on due time he has to make up (قَضَاء) as early as possible.
Below is the exact time of each prayer.
Dhuhr (الظُّهْر)
Time of Dhuhr prayer begins when the sun begins to descends (زَوَال) from its zenith and it ends when an object’s shadow equals its length in addition to its shadow at the time of zenith (الاستِواء)
Asr (العَصْر)
Asr prayer time begins immediately after the end of Dhuhr prayer and ends when the sun sets completely.
Maghrib (المَغْرِب)
Maghrib prayer time begins after the sunset and ends when the red horizon (الشَفق الأحْمَر) disappears
Isha (العِشَاء)
Isha prayer time begins after the disappearance of red horizon and ends when the Fajr Sadiq (الفَجْر الصَّادق) appears
Subah/Fajr (الفَجْر/الصُّبَح)
Subah (Fajr) prayer time begins after the break (طُلُوع) of Fajr Sadiq and ends when the sun rises.
NB: It is preferred to pray Salaat in its beginning time. One can delay it if he thinks that he will be able to pray it in Jama’a (الجَمَاعَة) within its due time (وقت الأداء). It is not allowed to sleep after the commencement of time unless one makes strong decision that he will wake up and do it in due time.
Salaat is forbidden (كَرَاهة التَّحْرِيم) in following times:
There are five times in a day in which offering Salaat without prior reason is forbidden. They are:
- After Subah prayer until the sun rises.
- At the time of sunrise until the sun rises to the height of a spear (approximately 5 degrees).
- After Asr prayer until sunset.
- At the time the sun becomes yellow (الاصْفِرَار) until the sunset.
- At the time when the sun is at its zenith until it descends, except on Fridays.
Note:
This (five prohibited times) ruling is not applied in Makah mosque.
