This is an English translation and explanation of a popular book named هدايه الاذكياء الي طريق الاولياء (Guidance Of Intelligent Towards The Way Of Awlia) written by Zainuddeen Bin Ali Bin Ahmed Al Malabari (AH 873-928). It is regarded as the formal textbook in Tasawwuf in all Arabic Colleges in Kerala. Many commentaries and explanations are written to elaborate on the meaning of the poem by different Arab scholars.

If anyone seeks knowledge to use it in vying with the learned, or disputing with the foolish, or to attract men’s attention to himself, God will bring him into hell.
In the above lines, he highlights some important facts about Islamic scholars and students. Scholars are given great respect and admiration, provided that their intentions are sincere and genuine.
The Author makes an important point here by saying that one should offer Dhuha prayer (forenoon prayer) by remembering about sudden death. It is possible that sudden death can come at any time. One should be prepared to face death by doing as many good deeds as possible. Remembering of death increases the quality of the worship and it increases the sincerity of the worshippers.
Here, a reciter of the Quran refers to a student of knowledge or one who is on the path of seeking knowledge and Allah’s satisfaction.
In modern days, the heart attracts more attention because of the increase in heart patients around the world. Food, lifestyle and family are the major factors that determine heart health. Big campaigns are launched to make the public aware of the sensitivity of the heart. If necessary care is not taken, it is vulnerable to harm.
The time of this prayer comes immediately after the sun rises at spear length (10-20 minutes). The hadith on the virtue of Wird after Subh prayer mentions two Raka’a prayers. That prayer is Salaat al Ishraaq according to the scholars.
Imam Ghazzali says that the time between dawn and sunrise is very precious. Allah took the oath by Fajr, Subh, and some other important times because they deserve much importance in the view of Allah.
Most people are not aware of the fact that free time is also part of one’s life and thus can be questioned in the hereafter. Spending your free time in amusement is allowed, but it should be within Islamic boundaries. Islam never accepts spending a few seconds on non-Islamic activity. The Prophet says:
In short, the core point here is to prepare oneself for doing good things, worshipping Allah, and not doing bad things. If he finds that interacting with people is a barrier for him (it is not a barrier when used in a wise manner), it is good for him to do Uzla (isolated life). It is a way to abstain from disobeying Allah.
