Chapter #5 سُنَنُ الوُضَوء Sunan of Wudu- (Salaat: Brief rulings of Prayer in Shafi Madh’hab)

 Know the Sunan of Wudu
 Differentiate between Sunan and Furood
 Practice a Wudu with maximum Sunan

Sunan of Wudu
  • There are many Sunan for Wudu. Below are the major Sunan in their sequence.
  • (Furood are given in the bracket)
  • to reciteأَذْكَار of Wudu at the beginning; especially بَسْمَلَة.
  • to wash the hands up to wrists in the beginning.
  • to brush the teeth with Miswak(مِسْوَاك).
  • to rinse the mouth(المَضْمَضَة) and sniff the water (الاسْتِنْشَاق) into the nostrils by using new water each time.
  • (Then washing the face and hands, both are Furood, not Sunan)
  • to wipe whole head.
  • (Please note that wiping a portion of the head is Fard)
  • to wipe the both ears.
  • (Then doing the last Fard; washing the feet including ankles)
  • to recite أَذْكَار of Wudu at the end.

More Sunan

  1. Rubbing the organs of Wudu when washing them.
  2. Combing (تَخْلِيل) thick beard with the fingers of the right hand.
  3. Passing fingers of both hands, against each other, and also passing them through the toes (تَخْلِيل of fingers and toes).
  4. Washing the face, hands and legs more than the area of Fard.
  5. Beginning with right side when washing the hands and legs.
  6. Doing above-said washing, wiping, rubbing and combing three times.
  7. Washing the organs one after another quickly (المُوَالاَة).
  8. Facing Qiblah throughout Wudu.
  9. Avoiding the talk when performing Wudu.
  10. Not wiping (drying) the water of Wudu from limbs (التَنْشِيف) after Wudu.

أَعُوذُ بِالله مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ الرَجِيم، بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيم أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ، الحَمْدُ للّهِ الذِي جَعَلَ المَاءَ طَهُورًا.
