The Holy Land During the Time of the Prophets Dawood and Sulaiman Part_4

The historical accounts of Dawood (David) and Sulaiman (Solomon) bear great significance in Islamic tradition. After the passing of Taloot, the Israelites found themselves divided into two factions. One faction rallied behind Taloot’s son, while the other followed Dawood, whom some considered the rightful heir to the throne.

By the year 1000 BCE, Dawood had established his rule over the region of Judah and its surrounding territories, designating Hebron as his capital. In parallel, Taloot’s son ruled from Jerusalem. In that same year, a pivotal battle unfolded between Dawood and his rival, culminating in Dawood’s victory. This victory led to his assumption of control over Jerusalem, which he designated as the capital of the Israelites. His kingdom expanded to encompass portions of Palestine, although the coastal regions remained under Canaanite control.

It is essential to acknowledge that the first Jewish kingdom in Palestine is believed to have been established around 995 BCE. However, historical records indicate that the Canaanites and Jebusites had inhabited the region long before the arrival of the Israelites.
Following Dawood’s demise, his son Sulaiman (Solomon) ascended to the throne. Sulaiman is renowned for his wisdom and holds a prominent place in the Quran. Islamic tradition attributes to him control over natural forces, jinn, birds, and animals, which greatly facilitated his construction of various structures and palaces.

Sulaiman, with the assistance of jinn, undertook the renovation of the existing Al-Aqsa Mosque. Contrary to Jewish claims, there is no evidence to suggest that he constructed a new temple.
The reign of Sulaiman is considered a significant event in the history of the Holy Land. However, after Solomon’s passing, internal conflicts among his descendants led to the kingdom’s decline, contributing to the disarray that would follow.
